Hi, Don't want to sound negative, but if your customer wants "digital" by October 9, I suggest you buy now and get learning how this all works. It really is a different world, and you will need acclimatisation time to become familiar with new hardware, flash response(?), and how best to work with the different files digital provides. Is your customer also asking for RAW? Stay with Canon or get a good 3rd. party converter? Lots of decisions which need time for a good outcome. I've had a 10D since March 2003, and I can vouch that my results with it (and an Epson 1270 printer) surpass whatever I did with film using EOS50E (same as Elan IIE), 10 and 3 bodies - and much the same lenses.
