If the format is well thought out - and Adobe is in a good position to make
a good judgment about all kinds of different scenarios - then it is entirely
possible to accommodate any sensor each with its own characteristic,
technology, patterns, custom processing, etc.
The reason Capture One and other SW packages need separate support is
because each manufacturer uses a different format. You need a module that
translates that format. But if you have a universal format that can
accommodate a very wide range of sensors you will not need all these
different modules anymore.

As stated above, if the format is well thought out you can accommodate all
these different kind of sensors with their specific properties. I have not
studied the DNG format of Adobe so I am not sure if this is really what they
are after. Nevertheless, it is entirely possible to accommodate all kinds of
sensors including the revolutionary Foveon concept (which really hasn't
taken off to not all that much surprise...) If you or anybody else wants to
discuss this matter further contact me directly....
