I agree. I would have thought that they'd build a batch maybe once a year or so, just enough to meet demand.

Didn't Canon stop the production of that lens, along with the 85/1.2L a
couple of years ago? From what I've heard, it was bulky and had a very slow
AF. Shame tough, it was the only competitor to the Leica M Noctilux 50/1.0
Canon has a tradition for making some of the fastest lenses on the market.
Why didn't they keep it on the catalogue? Those lenses aren't made for
profit anyway, but for showing the know-how of a manufacturer.
