I just noticed in the nice German catalogue of Brenner's Fotoversand 
that Nikon is currently the only one offering an (equivalent) 24-85mm 
compact....(the Coolpix 8400)
(and that the Ricoh 28-100/135mm compacts are half the price of 
Canon/Minolta/Nikon....shame that Ricoh doesn't offer what they once 
did with analog, a 21mm compact)

Willem (who can't understand that still no manufacturer has gotten 
hold of this very lucrative wide angle niche, at least now that 
increasing resolution can compensate the lesser subject detail....and 
the first one launching a true swing-lens digicam will make even more 
profit) Jan
