Btw, was the old DCS-3m any good in this respect?
That was the last monochrome model on the market (alongside with the 
Kodak/Nikon counterparts I assume (just as with the IR-models (even 
one generation extra/older for Nikon than for Canon)

(it did do 3200 or 6400 ASA, not a bad feature either....oh well, 
better save on for an Astroscope night vision tube....;))
(and maintain all functions, something my 'old-fashioned' Rollei 
RF100 doesn't do....:))
