What keeps manufacturers from using a *larger* sensor, given the 
*assumed* cost of (relatively) extreme wide-angles for smaller 
sensors?
Heck, use a previous generation mid-size sensor, for crying out 
loud....but *serve* this market, don't ignore it.

Perhaps it has more to do with the insanity of short life-cycle *and* 
production cycles?
So that no niche-camera can't be designed any more, if it doesn't 
sell at 100k quantities within 6 months?
