A Lowepro PhotoTrekker or PhotoTrekker AW are close to max carry-on size.
 I'd recommend a soft pack - a hard pack just may not fit next to the
other carry-ons - and you don't want to hear "there is no more room and
you must check your bag".

Hi

On trips I've taken, my PhotoTrekker Classic was a tight squeeze (the AW would be too big). Although on my last trip (brand new aircraft), the overhead bins were smaller and I had to "sky check" my "Classic" (a MiniTrekker would have fit). "Sky Checking" occurs just as you board/exit the plane, it doesn't go through the regular bagge (mis)handling system.
