When I returned to Capetown for another vacation several years
back I basically brought all the EOS gear I had at the time,
including an Elan IIe with BG, 17-35 2.8, 28-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8,
15 2.8, 50 1.4, 400 5.6, 1.4x, 2x, 540 flash. Everything *just
about* fit into a Tamrac 678 rolling backpack.

I managed to get by the carry-on luggage requirements by
wearing my photovest and stuffing it with those heavy lenses -
at least until I boarded. The 60 to 80 rolls of film were in
clear plastic bags for easy inspection. I think I stored the
Tamrac under the seat in front of me on the floor, and then
unloaded the vest into it.

I also brought my trusty Graf Studioball and Linhof tripod
and a small lighting umbrella as well as two extention tubes,
but those went checked.

BTW, as before, I had a wonderful time. One day I got up
before sunrise and went to take a great early morning
photograph of those colorful cabins at St. James Beach -
yeah I know it's a cliche postcard shot, but it was fun,
and other people msu like it too, as I received several
awards and acceptances for it over the years. Another trip
was up the "new" (well at least for me at the time) cablecar
to Table Mountain. One ranger saw all my gear and heavy
tripod and asked weather I was a professional photographer
and that I needed a permit if I was. I really missed the
restaurant up there though. They had really good lentil
soup, and scones. They had turned it into a fast food and
snack place. Oh well, I am rambling ...
