First of all I want to thank you all for the replies I've been getting! Thank you!

Probably most of this list is US based (not really sure about that) and find that lens being sold around 600$ (at least this was the information I've been finding online), although here in Portugal, at least for now - and keep in mind I did not search much for it yet - I only found this lens at the price of 874Euros, that's bout 1073$... (is that a robbery or what?) Buying abroad or in 2nd hand might be an option, although there's always some problems (taxes on buying abroad and lens condition when buying them in 2nd hand). But for what everyone is telling me I'm starting to think I should wait more time, keep raising money and get this lens. But I still have a question regarding the 17-85, that came up reading some replies, including yours. 1) If I ever get a DSLR with a 1.0x sensor will I have really *big* problems with distortion? 2) If I get some distortion will it be only in the 17-28mm range (my 18-55mm from canon even being done exclusively for DSLR does some distortion in the 18-28 range) or in the 17-85 range?
