One of the very first things I learned when I bought my rebel was that Canon can't write software. I suggest ditching their stuff and using a USB 2.0 card reader instead. If you have to use their software, hopefully you have a mac. On Windows the Canon software only worked for images on c:, which isn't where any of my files were. On the mac, I can at least all my disks. Assuming their software does something and doesn't just lock up when I click on it.
