Actually, I wouldn't spend the money to upgrade from a 20d, but if I were starting from scratch, or upgrading from a 10d or Rebel, the 30d seems worth a premium to me. (List price of the 30d is cheaper than the 20d, btw, although street prices of the 20d will drop, I'm sure). Spot metering doesn't matter a lot to me, either. But the larger LCD, combined with a bigger RAW buffer (9 instead of 6) are both worthwhile advantages. Canon also claims to have tweaked the AF algorithms. It'll be interesting to see what the performance difference is. For my use, the biggest complaint I have about the 20d is AF. While it's worlds' better than the 10d, it's still a long way from the 1v for action (sports) photography. Bob Meyer I don't suffer from insanity...
