I've been very happy with Hoya S-HMC (super Hoya multi-coated) filters for many years. They seem to work well and are pretty durable. They are also quite reasonably priced.

I've always used Skylight filters (1B), but folks say for the digital era, a UV (0) filter is preferred.

Any filter recommendations/feedback for a 70-200L IS? I wanted to get
something for everyday use i.e. protection. I was considering the Canon 77mm
UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter (L-39 Sharp Cut).
