Any filter recommendations/feedback for a 70-200L IS? I wanted to get
something for everyday use i.e. protection. I was considering the Canon 77mm
UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter (L-39 Sharp Cut).

I recommend you rethink your reasoning before buying filters for protection. Using filters to protect your lens is seldom cost effective, and reduces image quality.

In most situations, I recommend you merely use a lens hood when shooting, and immediately put the lens cap on when you take the lens hood off.

The Lens Hood provides protection against bumps to the front of the lens, and reduce flare. Flare will reduce image contrast.

ALL filters reduce image quality (you are adding two additional air/glass boundaries). A good filter will only degrade the image a little bit, a bad filter can ruin an image.

The front element coating on your 70-200L is probably much tougher than the coating an any filter you buy. You will have better success cleaning fingerprints and grime off your lens than off the filter. If you are using good filters for protection, you will need to replace them frequently, as they won't stay good filters for very long.

If you are using cheap filters to protect your L lens (or not replacing them frequently), just buy a cheap consumer lens and skip the filter. You'll get the same quality image, and you will be providing the ultimate protection for your L lens.

If you are buying good filters and replacing them often, double check your math. It might be cheaper to buy a second L lens to keep as a spare. Good filters are expensive.

There are times when filters are appropriate. Some effects just can't be replicated in Photoshop (i.e. polarization).

In my experience, L lens are too good to degrade with filters.
Consumer lens are too cheap to bother protecting with filters.
