Ahh - I misunderstood. I'm with you now. Yeah, that method is slightly
quieter than normal. I have mine set to an even quieter method - enable
mirror lockup and you get this:

1. Full press of the shutter button (moves mirror to lock-up position)
and release
2. Full press of the shutter button (exposes frame) and hold
3. Release shutter button (mirror moves back down)

Er, this is only useful when shooting handheld from the hip ;-)

Otherwise, I might just give your method a try for close candids. I
doubt that I would find it useful for general work.
