Could someone summarize these problems? Now that I've bought one, I can indulge in some buyer's remorse. :-\

Since it's the only game in town, I figured I would just live with whatever the problems were. Yes, the grip/camera join is not the rock of Gibraltar, but you know I really have to purposely twist it to feel the give. I wish it wasn't there, but to be honest most of the time I don't notice it, and I feel it is worth the "trouble" and so far actually really like the way the combo feels. Also, I was told by a camera salesman that recent issues of the grip have had some problems fixed, but I don't know what. I gather the fit was so loose on some that the electrical contact could be interrupted. Certainly not the case with mine. Another person told me about a friend who added some double-sided tape in between to stabilize it further. Mine isn;t so loose as to seem to need that.

It would be interesting to read about the way the grip uses dual batteries, assuming there's a system to it. . I put a BP-511A and a BP-511 in mine when I got it, both fully charged, and when I went to recharge them after shooting a party w/some built-in flash, some hotshoe, they had discharged different amounts, the 511A about 50% (2 flashes) and the 511 about 70% (5 minutes to 3 flashes). Maybe the grip does see the two variants differently, although the grip manual says they can used interchangeably.

I have big hands, and my Elan 7 has had a BP-300 on it from day one, and the BG-E2 offers quite a bit more functionality, since it also includes a 2nd main dial. I really hesitated to buy it, but now, for the time being, I'm glad I did.

I would really love the BG-E2 for vertical shots.. but with the problems people have had, I figured it's not worth the trouble.
