Has anybody made a comparison between the image quality of the original 11.1Mp EOS 1Ds and the 12.8Mp EOS 5D. On the used market, the prices of the two bodies are not that far apart (the 1Ds has depreciated drastically from it's original $7,995 selling price).

The 5D is the beneficiary of Moore's Law and offers better image quality (particularly at higher ISOs) than the 1Ds. ISO 1600 on the 5D looks as good as ISO 400 on the 1Ds. The only advantages of the 1Ds are the separate FEL button, 45-point AF, weather sealing, and 1/250 second flash sync. The 5D is faster in terms of writing to CF cards and has a larger buffer.
