The whole idea to buy expensive glass is to - well use
that high quality expensive glass to get exceptional
quality. Why then go out and degrade the final quality
by introducing non quality/substandard glass anywhere
in the light path, in addition to make the light pass
through an additional layer not part of the lens ? 
(Unless - specifically needed to correct something of
course ...)

Better yet, buy cheap lenses that can be replaced
anytime and not worry about putting filters for
protection :)
