Hi Ken, > The format of the post is the List Owner's wish, you don't have > to join this > list if you don't want to follow the List Owner's rules.
I didn't hear him say it was a "rule" that there should not be any top postings. Here is what he said: "There is no punishment/filtering on reverse-quoting (putting the reply above the original), only on the inclusion of the admin-footer..." So, I'm still not sure that this is a "rule" or simply his preference and is "tolerated" (just like others, like me, "tolerate" bottom-posting). > I don't go into other people's house and tell them how they should do > things, and I suspect none of us here on this list are impolite > enough to do > that either, That's not equivalent IMO. I can ask someone to take their boots off, but not tell them how they *will* communicate with me when they are in my house. If they eat everything in my refrigerator without asking, that's a different story. Personally, if the rules are so cumbersome, I'd probably just leave, at the least, not come back. > so why is it that some of you insist on telling others how > things should work in this e-mail list when the list rule was > quite politely > explained to you by the List Owner himself? I don't know who you are referring to here, but I didn't hear anyone "tell[ing] others how things should work", except one pro-bottom-poster. What I said is I believe top-posting (and intra-posting) is perfectly acceptable. If the issue is clipping/trimming, that I believe that should be the issue, not where someone replies...as long as they trim/clip.
