Good point. If you are side by side when taking the pictures, then you would have to have different focal length lenses to frame them identically. If you are using the same lense on the two different sensor'd cameras, then the images are not "the same exact image[s]", so that leaves only one conclusion...that the focal lengths of the lenses are made to be able to take "the same exact image[s]", and therefore the argument that 10mp has a higher pixel image density than the 12 doesn't follow.
