Two replies about compacts that use AA cells stated low battery life.
Perhaps it is because the A570IS is a new camera that the A cells in my
wife's camera are still going strong. The last image number is in the
80s with the original set of AA cells. This is a lot past the number in
the 30s.
My first digiacam was a Canon A40 and it did eat batteries, 4 AA cells.
But the new A570IS is nowhere near as hungry as the old A40. Technology
improvements include less power consumption among other things.
BTW, my wife's shooting included the safe return of our son from
Afghanistan and a few weeks later our grand daughter's high school
graduation. So it has seen use and the original As are still holding
up Many of the shots used the built in flash too. And teh AAs are
Energizer alkalines, not the lithiums.....
Another thought, it isn't necessarily carrying the charger but more so
having a place to plug it in that is a consideration........
