I discussed it with my husband tonight, and he suggested that I get it fixed, and I could later sell the camera if I decide to go with the 40D. I doubt (hope?) the repair price will exceed $305, so unless something else goes wrong, I should be able to sell it later for at least $305, so I'll recoup that costs.
I'll let y'all know when it comes back if I can tell what was fixed/replaced, and how long it takes. I do suspect it will take longer than 7 business days since it took them 2 1/2 days just to look at it, but I'll find out for sure soon enough.
