Yep, AS I recall reading Pythy did so since Beans contain the souls of the ancestors. In a funny way he was right as methane is the farts produced by what was known as prokaryotes who took refuge inside eukaryotes after they thoroughly poisoned the atmosphere. Although they may well have a new explanation now. Anyhow they use methane to regulate the %age of oxygen in the air.
