Metastock categorically states that you must use their data feed for version
12. Until someone has the product and tries to use third-party data, we won't
know if this is whimsy or fact.
If a fact, it would be no surprise if someone develops a piece of software to
get around the restriction.

Hi Roy, Stuart and all,

Unless Reuters is actually changing the file structure of its data files, it
will be hard to implement a version MetaStock that is forced to use a
Reuters data feed "only". Of course they could provide a new "special" feed
to accomplish this, but they will almost certainly continue their existing
feed. If not, their entire customer base will be jeopardized and likely
lost. Does it make economic sense to provide two feeds, one for new
versions of MetaStock and one for previous versions? The new version will
have almost no customer base so will be a money loser for quite a while
until the customer base grows enough to support it. Of course, Trade
Station did this some years ago along with implementing a trading platform.
You don't hear much about Trade Station compared to previously.

If Reuters is going to do this, it is a major, major change for the company
and, in my opinion, a high risk strategy for them. Thank you.

Best,

Larry

Hi Roy

"Do I have to use Thomson Reuters data feed?

Yes. All MetaStock products work exclusively with Thomson Reuters data
feeds."

I have just reached the end of my MetaStock upgrades...

Kind regards

Stuart

that I must subscribe to their data feed, but I'm not sure that I believe
what I've been told. Thanks.
