Thanks, Roy.

I am a visual analyst. Optimizing systems does interest me.

I find the subject puzzling and wonder how much of the MetaStock program
beyond the platform is in the public domain or copyrighted by others such as
Walter Bressert, John Bollinger, Gerald Appel, Larry Williams, or Welles
Wilder just to name a few.

If Reuters wants to exclude the other vendors it would be reasonable to
expect someone to be motivated to compete with MetaStock.

Who knows, perhaps Bloomberg would be interested.

These are just some random thoughts.

Hi Chris

MS 9.1 EOD is still my workhorse even though I now have versions 10.1, 11
and 12 installed too. Correction, 12 is only partially installed, and since
I don't have a data subscription it refuses to complete loading MetaStock
and is therefore quite useless.

However, my main interest is in what new explorations, experts and
indicators there are. At first glance it seems that the MS12FORM.DTA file
contains exactly the same 250 odd base formulas that MS11 had - PREV
functions all over the place in the formulas where the names start with
MS11. It's disappointing that the Adaptive formulas still have all the bugs
that were present on the release of MS 11.

If you're wondering how I examine the contents of an MS 12 DTA file without
running MS 12, it's simple enough to do. I copy the newer version formulas
into MS 11, change the name of the old formulas so that they're not
recognised any more, change the name of the new formulas introduced to MS 11
so they are recognised as MS 11 files, then start MS 11 and open the
appropriate tool to see what formulas etc. are present.

I went to http://www.metastock.com/ to look for MS 12 information.

Regards

Roy

Hi Roy,

I use MetaStock 9.0 EOD because I could put it on several machines. I don't
share it with anyone so I stopped when the 9.1 started with limitations.

I use CSIDATA Unfair Advantage.

I use Windows 7 with XP so I don't have any problems but am always looking
to see if anything has changed that I can use.

I just looked at the MetaStock site and 11 PRO and EOD is all they are
showing.

I don't know where you found MS 12 EOD.

Regards,

Chris

Re MetaStock 12 EOD and third party data suppliers.

Has anyone purchased MS 12 EOD and established if an existing (non-Reuters)
data provider can still be used? Equis sales have assured me that I must
subscribe to their data feed, but I'm not sure that I believe what I've been
told. Thanks.
