I'd like to have the better climb provided by more HP however, my plane
has
the O-200 and many modifications including a custom leather interior so it
is already heavy. Adding 30 or more pounds would not be worth it to me,
and
the FAA required approval would be a real nightmare - a "No go" for me.

Now if I could get a CS prop on the O-200 with an existing STC, I'd
consider
that depending upon the weight gain. However that isn't likely to happen
either.

I have the O-200 and have never seen it burn 7 gallons an hour. Of course
I've never run it at WOT & full rich at sea level for any length of time
either.

Normally plan to burn about 5 GPH, although it's been as little as 4 GPH
at
11,000' & 2400 RPM and as much as about 6 GPH in a cross country air race.
4.5 to 5.5 GPH seems to cover normal cruise settings.

My plane has a single probe EGT/CHT gauge. I always try to keep my EGT
between 1250 & 1300 degrees, and my CHT's between 325 & 400 degrees (400
in
an extended climb in hot weather).

It seems to be running about 10 degrees hotter @ 1100 SMOH than it did at
200 SMOH. No changes to the baffling.
