Percy,

If you are issued a 3rd class medical, even though it is a special
issuance via a waiver, you have the 3rd class medical.

If you let it expire, you're good long-term for being a Private Pilot
operating under the privileges of a Sport Pilot.

If you apply for renewal and get denied, you can't fly anything except
254 lb. true ultralights.

My specific question, Bill, is about flying under a waiver. My letter
states:
"You are ineligible for certification under Title 14, Code of Federal
Regulations (CFR) part 67.
However, we have determined that you may be granted Authorization for
special issuance of a
third-class airman medical cerficate under 14 CFR 67.401."
Lemme know `cause I'm up for renewal the end of the month.
     Percy

Hi.
I expect Sue Gardner, The Sport Pilot Project Manager, to call me
today or tomorrow some time. I had a few questions that needed
answering.
I need to know for sure that if you have a D model but is registered as
a C model, what can you do, if anything, to qualify for the Sport
License.
I have heard many opinions about this and it and I needed
verification.
Regarding your medical. I think the rules say that if you have ever been
denied, you cannot qualify. What about being denied and in 6 months
you get your medical back.. Can you qualify then.
If any of you have a direct question, I will ask Sue for an answer. I
think the jury is still out on the medical thing but I am not sure.
