If your airplane’s documents show that you’ve got the split elevator
approved, I’d suggest contacting Skyport and see about getting one.
Alternatively, look around for a parting-out plane and buy the split
elevator from it.  

 

Don’t forget to get the low-speed warning cushion mechanism.  That’s a
pre-loaded spring that should be adjusted to give you the feeling of a
stop at 65 mph – then, when you are ready to flare just above the ground,
you can pull against the spring and slow the plane down to a 50 mph
touchdown.

 

Some FAA idiots have rejected a few people’s paperwork when they filed a
337 to install the split elevator.  Duh!

Now Ive got the idea what a split elevator is.  Its says in my technical
book that it had a split elev but it sure doenst anymore.  At some point
it must have been changed.
