Hi Percy-last day or two I started reading SB31rev#1 & AD 2002-26-02 real close.Mauser Aviation at my arpt. wanted a copy of SB31.They are doing annual on coupe sn 472. Faa never sent me the AD ,however Univair did sent me sb 31.Had to get copy from Buzz when we flew to Auburn for brkfst today. In doing the AD we have to comply with procedures starting on pg#2.My coupe(sn 3279) has had procedure #4 AD 59-05-04 rear spar stiffeners c/w.this covers allcoupesprior to 4869. Proc. #5 sb18 is for coupes #113-2037.Mine was done at factory. If yours falls in those #'s, yes, you will have to now C/w sb18. Proc. #6 fornaire SB109 has to be done by all coupes prior to sn5714. Ed Mauser got sb109 faxed from univair. It calls for drilling 6 drain holes in center section.4of which have(what they call) clam shell covers rivited on.They remind me of the sea plane grommets installed on fabric surfaces. I've got enlarged drain holes in my coupe already but I ordered the univair service kit SK-37 anyway. cost about$19. for 4ea plates & rivets! So their you have it. I just have to do proc#6(4&5) already being done. Oh, by the way,Mauser Aviation found left rear spar on sn472 buckled/cracked at attach point inb of rib.Top skin was really wrinkled! Drilling inspection holes made it easy to see damage. It will need left rear spar replaced. I heard new owner did not get a prepurchase inspection. Not a very smart move!! Hope to see you at McMinnville, Or. this summer.Ted > [Original Message] > From: Percy Wood <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; Greg Bullough <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: 5/11/03 8:53:48 PM > Subject: Re: [COUPERS-TECH] Annual AD troubles > > ----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- > > > At 02:41 PM 5/9/03 -0400, Greg Bullough wrote: > > >----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any > >advice in this forum.]---- > > > > > >The IA working on N99387 is claiming that not only does AD-2202-26-02 > >make SB31 mandatory, it makes two other SB's mandatory because > >SB31 refers to them. > > > >The IA is digging > >in his heels, claiming that the inspection...'In accordance with the > >Procedures Section of Univari Aircraft SB No. 31...'" means that > >you have to do the other two SB's because the first refers to it as > >part of the procedure. > > > >Any insights? > > One of these days, Greg, I'm gonna publish my full diatribe on the IA > as Artist.
