Remember, most Ercoupes have spent at least part of their lives,
and maybe a coupe of decades, on outside tiedowns with any
canvas covers having long since rotted away. Many of us would
be horrified if we could see what our planes looked like some
years ago. Following that indignity (for a time, $600.00 bought
a decent Ercoupe), some were 'fixed up' via a cosmetic
restoration.

During that indignity, every drop of rain that landed on the side
windows ran right down them and into the fuselage, making its
way down the inside of the skin and probably puddling up in
the belly pan, keeping the whole belly and center section
pretty constantly clammy.

The Luscombe guys have experienced the same problem.
And the 120/140 crew.

Face it: we're flying planes that were, in many cases, considered
to be scrap metal in 1970.
