Bob,

This is the first I've ever heard of such a problem but here are some
thoughts to try.

When a GPS is first turned on, it listens for any satellites and tries
to download the time signal and ephemeris of satellite positions and
such. Then it listens for the satellites that should be up and starts
to try and figure out where it is. When it has been off for a while OR
has moved a long distance since it was last tracking, it can take a LONG
while to figure things out.

I'd take it outside and put it on a post with a good view of the whole
sky. I'd turn it on and leave it on the post and come back in a
half-hour or so and see if it figured things out. If it doesn't, then
I'd call their tech support.

Need Some input. I have a like new Bendix-King Handheld GPS NAV COM
that has not been used for about 3 yrs. The database is dated 1996.
Took it out of storage and it will not access the GPS system otherwise
it works. It was working when put in storage. Is it possible that the
outdated database will stop it from accessing the GPS navagation
functions. Can't even get the map to com uo using eather the internal
or external ant. I get a message " not enough signal for navigation .
Any ideas. ????? This is only my backup com radio & GPS but I would
like to be able to use it as it was quite expensive when I bought it new
in 1966. Iam using a Garmin 196 now as primary GPS which works great.
