I have to do it (and you should too) every annual. Looking for cracks in the spinner backer plate, etc. Remember, should that baby come off, it can ding a prop, your windshield, head, etc. There are screws to the spider in the front of the prop, and screws to the backer plate. I had my engine dynamically balanced, and it was an improvement.
