The spinner is optional. Is the prop metal or wood? If wood does it have
the crush plate on the front? Don't laugh, we had one here without it.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Spinner Patch

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following
any advice in this forum.]----

I am the new owner of '50 mdl G. Friends baby-sitting my airplane until
I can pick it up tell me there seems to be unusually high vibration
above 2,000 rpm. A possible cause is a repair patch on the spinner,
although that seems to be a trivial mass change that close to the center
of rotation. We think a repair in this location is not legal. Can the
airplane be legally flown w/o the spinner? If so, that may help isolate
the vibe source. I plan to have the prop track checked and dynamically
balanced. The C-85 installed has a taper shaft. Another question:
How difficult is it to R&R the spinner on this engine?

Grateful for any help.
