Marty,

Something not mentioned in the responses I've seen is that the breaker size chosen is protection for the wiring.   If you increase the amperage size of the breaker you risk potential wiring overheating hazard in the event of a short.

Hi,

I’ve been having trouble with my 10 amp generator breaker tripping since I installed my landing lights.I can’t find the rating on the data plate for the generator but it has the following numbers on it:11018765615.I’m going to get a larger breaker, but don’t want to exceed the rating of the generator. The only time I’m having trouble is with the wigwag switching deal flashing the landing lights and with the navigation lights on and I pull the power back. The voltage drops causing the current to rise and trips the breaker.Does anyone know what rating a generator with these numbers on it might be?

Thanks,

Marty Duke
