Pardon my ignorance on the topic, but I have been lost in a time warp out of aviation for a dozen or so years and am just returning so this issue may no longer be germaine. But when I was leaving aviation, 100LL was just being phased in and 80 octane aviation fuel phased out. I remember alot of problems for 80 oct. engines when run on 100LL. There were several fuel addatives on the market that were supposed to solve the problem. Has this issue been resolved or is it still a problem. My plane has the 85 hp engine and the mixture is wired full rich. Is this something that is an issue in this regard?

I understand auto fuel has been possibly nicer to older motors like ours but the airport I am based at doesn't like people using autogas for obvious reasons and I really don't care to create a problem. But then again, what works in the motors? Is 100LL a problem?

thanks
