Elaine,

I have never done it, so I am no expert.  I think you could just use your existing airplane wing to mold it..  Most Plexiglas is malleable at a relatively low temp.  I would use a heat gun to heat the plastic and use the leading edge of your wing to shape it to meet the profile.  I would guess that the only concern is to not use to much heat to damage the wing or paint.

I'm thinking about switching to the wing mounted landing lights, using the skyport kit.  Just wondering if anyone has installed it.  How much time does it take.  It looks fairly easy.  My lights are on the main gear now, so wiring would be a snap.  Just seems strange to cut a hole in the front of a good wing!!

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Plexiglass leading edge landing light lens

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

Has anyone made a mold with which to conform a plastic lens to fit into the wing of an A2A over the landing light? I was thinking plaster-of-paris  might be an acceptable medium, but it couldn't be that easy, could it?
