Actually, Percy, it's part of my preflight checklist.  See below:

PREFLIGHT CHECKLIST
1. Check control surfaces, tires, nav & strobe lights, etc.
2. Sample fuel for water & dirt.
3. Check fuel tank levels.
4. Check amount of oil, etc.  Add 1 qt. oil at 3 1/2.
5. Fasten safety belts.
6. Fuel valves - BOTH OPEN.
7. Brakes - SET.
8. Master switch - OFF.
9. Mixture control - FULL RICH.
10. Carburetor heat - OFF.
11. Radio master switch - OFF.
12. Nav, instrument & strobe lights - OFF.
13. Alternator switch - OFF.
14. Cold engine - PRIME AND LOCK plunger.
15. Throttle - CRACK 1/8”.
16. Master switch - ON.
17. Mag switch - BOTH.
18. CLEAR PROP!
19. Pull starter.
20. Check oil pressure.
21. Warm engine - 700 - 900 RPM.
22. Alternator switch - ON.
23. Strobe switch - ON.
24. Nav. & instrument lights - ON if at night.
25.  Radio master switch - ON, SET RADIO FREQUENCY TO CTAF.
26. Transponder - SET TO 1200
