Hi Bob,
Your question presumes the existence of an Ercoupe Model 415-A. No tangible proof has been supplied to seriously consider such an airframe exists (or ever existed).
What is the serial number and registration number of this airframe? When was it manufactured and by whom? Have you ordered the $5 cd or photocopies of the paper records of both ownership and maintenance information on this airframe (presuming such information as you have on it is correct)? What is the model shown (should match CAA/FAA records). If the manufacturer's plate is missing, there is usually a good reason. Getting an airframe registered with clear title that is not clearly identified may be both difficult and expensive.
If there is a disparity between FAA records and the logs you have, said logs could relate to an entirely different airframe and/or a different engine. You say you have "all the logs", but you do not say whether the logs you "have" are the original ones prepared by ERCO and given to the original purchaser of each Ercoupe. Anybody can reconstruct logs that may or may not be accurate and/or truthful. Do engine hours and airframe hours match?
What is the serial number of the engine? Does it match that in the engine log? The logs should agree as to the serial number of the original engine installed; and it should be understood without saying that C-85 engines simply did not exist prior to the mid-1940s (for original installation). Does the plane have an electrical system and, if so, was it factory installed?
Are there double-forked main gear trailing arms? Is the nose gear a double-forked 4:00 x 4?
The corrosion that "gets you" frequently cannot be seen without cutting inspection holes in early airframes or major disassembly. In the absence of the manufacturer's plate, the gauges installed (manufacturer and model number) can give further insight into when the airframe was assembled.
You have provided far too little information for ANYONE to guess, much less estimate, what this airframe is worth. The many unanswered questions make any present estimate as to what this project is "worth" merely the wildest of speculation.
To "read your tea leaves" we must HAVE tea leaves...not dust (or smoke).
Regards,
William R. Bayne

It is a '46 415A Logs say it has a C65engine but FAA says it is a C85. It is totally dissembled and is complete as far as I can tell. It was stored in a barn for over 25 years and it is in extremely good condition. There is some Corrosion but it can be brushed off with your hands. One minor hole in the cowling where I think something rubbed through in the engine compartment. Even the wiring looks excellent. I never looked closely at all the gauges and everything but it appears to be in very nice shape. The wings need an AD but they look excellent except that I think a ground squirrel left a nut in one of the wings. If I can remember, I think the engine sucked a valve seat at around 215 hours but it was repaired by an AP on the logs. The whole plane only has I think 827 hours or in that vicinity./x-tad-bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/color>/fontfamily>
Anyhow I have all the logs for the plane and engine. As far as I have checked, it is complete./x-tad-bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/color>/fontfamily>
