Actually, I meant to say "You can land at a nearby airport and remove the plate."  If I found my oil temps rising above 200 deg. I would look for a place to land, well before it got to redline.  Oil temps generally go down as you descend, anyway.

Does that mean that while cruising about and the temp gets top hot, that I should slide the window down reach out and try to remove the plate.?
 
I know how great it is to fly about with the windows open, but I never envisioned that there was a more practical application for that feature! Perhaps oil changes?  LOL
