It's a bit cheaper (which appeals to Ercoupe owners) and can be repaired very easily. The big downside is that it weighs more and trivial as it seems, can't be polished. Both will need to be fitted.

Question.
I am going to have to replace my nose bowl before I repaint my coupe
Is there an advantage to the Super ( Kenny ) nose bowl over the metal?
and is it difficult to get it to fit properly

Joey
I am new to coupes this last year.and was told by the person I bought mine from that the Kenny is supposed to make the engine run cooler. My plane, an 85 hp 415C has it and I have to say I have not experienced any problem with engine temps even in long climbs on hot days. During the period of getting things right after purchasing.... you know that period when you are forever doing maintenance things to get it the way you and your mechanic think it should be (generic, happens whenever you buy any airplane) we did give alot of attention to the engine baffles, as we could see they needed "a little work". So I don't have any experience with a coupe without it, and cannot say how much is what we did on the baffles and how much the nosebowl. Still, it amazes me after flying planes with cowl flaps for years that I really have had zero engine temp management, even on very hot days.

A lot depends on the exact configuration of the engine. If it has
chrome cylinders, rusty bores is not something you need to worry
about. If they are steel, I'd do a boroscope (sp?) inspection before
anything else. I'd also pre-lube the engine. After this many years
it is likely the engine will not make oil pressure without a
prime. Also, drain and discard any oil that may be in the tank. If
you want to be really fastidious, pull one or both cylinders on one
side and eyeball the cam.
Motor the engine on the starter until it develops oil pressure on its
own. Check the timing and make sure the carb has fresh fuel in it
and does not leak. Then, fire it up. Follow the break-in procedure
in the Continental overhaul manual. Avoid excessive ground running
as you can develop a glaze on the cylinder walls that prevents proper
ring seating. Once you have determined the engine is airworthy,
leave it alone or pickle it until you are ready to fly. Do NOT
ground run it at regular (or irregular) intervals and do not turn it
over by hand. Both practices are counterproductive.

No money here... ;) Too many variables.
