I read all this stuff about an ounce here, a pound there, and, for God's sake don't install a 1# gyro which could keep you alive. For my 'Coupe I know exactly where the weight reduction must take place, and most of it is hanging over my belt. If I get to a weight where I might live to see 65 or 70, it will be no problem keeping the thing under gross, presuming my passenger is not gross. They say people were skinnier in 1946. I maintain some folks are looking at the wrong problem.
I realize that flight instructors have a special problem in that if a hippo comes along, his bucks weight the same as the anorexic behind him.
