I see no reason to install a split elevator on a C or CD model.
The resulting approach airspeeds are the same as with a full elevator. Perhaps
it looks better.
On a D model, it does make sense to install a split elevator so the
approach speeds can be as slow as a C/ CD or later split elevator types.
The D model's limited elevator travel to 9 degrees up travel makes it important
to maintain a higher speed on final to prevent a hard landing.....
