I had a Microair 720 in the panel of mine. Fit ok and was a good radio.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Radios
----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----
I just converted myself from a Cardinal RG to a 46 Ercoupe ... just fly
for fun now. Anyway the Ercoupe I bought has no radios but does have an
electrical system with nav lites, etc. I would like to install a comm
radio (no more need for IFR) but am stymied by the shallow space behind
the panel ... a bit more than 7 inches,
The shortest one I can find in TAP is the Becker that mounts in a round
instrument hole (2 1/2 in?) but it is over 9 inches with the connector. I
suppose I could make it work if I installed it in the top center of the
panel, but it would protrude quite a bit. Other low cost radios (like the
Valcomm) are 12 inches or so.
The previous owner restored the plane and removed a center console which
housed a radio. But I'm looking for comfort and I don't see any way I'm
going to put the console back ... even for a radio.
Any ideas for me? Thanks
