<x-tad-bigger>I was able to bring N94857 home from Illinois Monday thanks to Randy Hougham providing an excellent used cylinder and piston set FREE. He shipped it to Loren Winklemann at LORAVCO at the Bloomington, IL airport, who installed it for a VERY reasonable charge. Randy's cylinder tested at 76/80. Being on the receiving end of such kindness is wonderful and I will certainly do my part to "pay it forward" if I can help any of you. I think Randy's idea of a central clearinghouse of low cost/free parts that we are willing to share is an excellent one. If someone more computer versed than I could set up some kind of a list that we could update as parts are made available and as they are no longer available, it would be great. That would eliminate the shipping to a central point and the physical storage thing, but still provide the "parts warehouse" aspect of his idea.<x-tad-bigger>

It seems to me EOC has a web site already. If we could pin down "someone more computer versed than I" (includes me, too) to figure out a data base where members could log on and type in lists of parts they have lying around that should do the trick; then other members could check the list for needs. If the EOC site does not have enough server space for this (it shouldn't take much), servers rent additional MB for nominal cost, so that should not be an issue - if it is, I expect participants might be willing to chip in the buck or few to pay for it. For my part, I've had possession of my Ercoupe for about 1 1/2 years and I already am accumulating spare parts that I may not need and would think of listing on such a data base. I also suggest it not be limited to free as I would be willing to pay a reasonable price for a set of Cleveland brakes for one example (Vernon Gregory told me when he has them he asks in the neighborhood of $600) - just now the cost of those things (new) + installation is out of my reach, especially considering other problems I have to solve first... I just need more pavement in front for the Goodyears to do what they do (they're not all that bad, just mediocre).
2nd (and last) request: anyone with a glove box spring available?
