After you've walked around and made sure all the parts are there and
connected, and checked the oil, then I just use Cigar Tip for a predeparture
checklist. On the walk around, always follow the same routine. I start in
cockpit and check master and mags off. Then left rear wing, working out and
around plane until I'm back again. For cigartip, if you're not familar,
it's: C- controls check for freedom and correct direction of movement. I-
instruments and panel, scanning and looking at each from left to right. G-
gas, verify you know in your mind it's on, quanity insured , and insured
caps are on. A-altimeter and attitude, altimeter set and aircraft attitude
pointed in a direction good for runup. R- runup, do it. T- trim set for
takeoff. I- check interior ready to go (belts fastened). P- prop and pitot
tube, on constant speed prop set for takeoff pitch. On Ercoupe, have you
removed the pitot cover (I didn't twice). All that will usually get you
where you're going. roger

Hi All,
Does anyone have a good pre-flight/ walk around check list?
Thanks,

I have found that checklists are a personal thing.
Some people I've seen use this:
0 Is it an airplane? (Ercoupe?)
0 Does it have any fuel? (this one shouldn't be skipped.)
0 Get in and fly!
Others do almost an annual inspection each time they get near the
aircraft. Personally, I am between the two. I don't use a written
checklist each time for pre-flight. I check over the plane to see if there
is any reason it wouldn't fly. I check the fuel for quantity and quality,
check the oil and visually check the rest of the plane for anything that
doesn't look right.
