A buddy of mine with more than 15,000 hours repeatedly drummed into my
head: "Even on the most simple of aircraft, there is a reason for
checklists. USE THEM." I only have half the hours he does, but my
insisting on using the checklist saved us from a gear up landing in a DC-3
last year.

Checklists - even on simple aircraft - keep one from forgetting things
like pitot covers......and landing gear, as a rather caviler pilot at our
airport recently found out. (No, he didn't use the checklist - he figured
he was beyond that. OOPS!)

They don't have to be in-depth or complex, but each aircraft really should
have one.....and pilots should use it. Don't understand why so many think
they aren't really necessary.
