I understand the Ercoupe 415D I bought is not LSA permitted (which I knew before I purchased). However, it started life as a 415C, which is LSA permitted and converted to "D" some years later. This was done by adding a cowling brace and filling out some forms re gross weight (or so I was told by the former owner).
I've been told the EAA or others are working on having the 415D (and other designs) certified as LSA approved. Is this true? What's involved and how long will this take (best estimate)?
