Hey Larry: Which side of the airplane is the oil filler located? An item
often overlooked is the dipstick. It has a tendency to drip a drop or two of oil
when you check the oil, and often the gasket has not been replaced since it was
manufactured (60 years ago), this oil will most often show up on the left cowl
as that is where the oil filler/dip stick normally is located. In addition, the
construction of the cap of the dip stick is such that occasionally oil can work
its way out through the cap.
