Larry;
Locating an oil leak can be one off the most frustrating jobs. If the mag is
leaking, it could show up on the prop. If a pushrod tube is leaking, it
could show up on the tail! Crazy! You didn't say if the O/H was done at
the factory, an engine shop or from the fellow in the corner hangar. The
one thing that comes to mind after an o/h is the accessories, I would start
my search there. Try to locate the most concentrated oil (the dirtiest
part) of the engine, not the airframe, and have a look at the obvious.
(Look hard at the tach cable and attachments.) Wash the engine down and
heavily spray the area with foot powder and fly it a few minutes. The foot
powder will show any oil streaking, much like tracks in the snow. You may
not get it the first time, but remember it's all logical, there are no
Halloween ghosts out there squirting oil on the engine.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Oil on side of cowl
----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----
Ever since i bought my Ercoupe when I fly a slight trail of oil appears
on the left side of the lower cowl (on the outside). Even after the
engine was rebuilt it still does it. I'm having my mechanic look at it.
Any ideas of where this could be coming from, particularly since the
engine did it before and after a major overhaul?
Thanks,
Larry
