Need some help with a nose wheel. How long should the spring be in the nose wheel? Upon disassembly to repair a leak my A&P found two springs in the nose wheel one about 9 inches long, and another about 3 inches long. Is there a reason for two springs? Or should there be only one?? Why would you want to increase this space with a second spring? My A&P is getting ready to reassemble with just the one spring is this right? Thanks in advance for any help. Van O. Keep hitting "reply" instead of "Reply All".... think I got it this time.) > I also acquired his struts, with the lip seals and bellevue springs > plus 7/8" spacers, as I have the newer nose gear. 7/8" spacers are way to big! Something else must be going on... Otherwise, I respectfully differ with Mr. Wright's assessment. Adding the spacers has zero effect on the travel of the sprung portion of the strut. The only thing that's affected is the travel of the oleo between fully extended and start of spring action, which is reduced by 7/16 of an inch. IMHO, this is not significant and could not contribute to any center section damage. Put another way, if you land hard enough to do damage, 7/16 of in inch ain't gonna save ya!
