A friend of mine worked in a factory about 30 years ago where he did quality control. He mentioned that one of the widgets they made was used for aircraft as well as autos. I started ranting about how much aircraft approved parts cost compared to identical auto parts. He explained to me how much more quality control their airplane parts get, that it's a small run and that they get separate packaging and a paperwork trail. OK, I guess I'm willing to pay somewhat more for the "identical" aircraft part. I understand even if I don't necessarily like it.
